Squash & Racketball Section
There are four well lit Squash Courts at Beckenham. Courts can be booked in advance for "social games", but there are also opportunities for representing the club in outside leagues and tournaments, as well as entering internal club leagues.
Courts are available throughout the week, from the morning through to the late evening.
Foxgrove Leagues
The Foxgrove Leagues are open to all club members of all standards. These leagues each containing half a dozen players of a similar standard. Matches are played over a 5 to 6 week period, with the top players being promoted and bottom players relegated prior to the next round of play. The leagues are highly popular and run throughout the year.
Other Internal Tournaments
The club also runs a number of other internal tournaments. The Annual Club Tournaments are open to all members - trophies being awarded for the Men's Open, Men's Handicap, Ladies' Handicap and Junior Competitions. The Racketball tournaments also include a mixed-doubles championship.
The Finch's Championship runs throughout the year using results from the Foxgrove League. Prizes are also awarded to the best overall player and the best newcomer.
Match Competition
The club also runs two senior sides play in the North West Priory League, a team plays in the Welling Cup and a ladies team plays in the Kent Premier Competition.
Coaching
Both senior and junior coaching is available for all standards of player.
Court Bookings
Courts can generally be booked up to two weeks in advance using stamps purchased from machines on the squash gallery. Sessions are 40 minutes.
Social Events
The Squash section at Beckenham organises a social event to celebrate the end of Tournament Week. It also holds several light-hearted competitions throughout the year. |
