Football at Beckenham

The 2 Wellcome teams, one Veterans and the other Super Vets, constitute the Sunday structure of the Beckenham Vets Football Section, playing their home fixtures at Foxgrove.

The football was played by employees of the Wellcome Research Laboratories based at Langley Court and dates back to 1923, although the Club was not officially formed until 1948.

At its height the Club boasted 2 Saturday League sides, 3 Sunday League sides and 2 Veterans sides, all playing out of the Langley Court ground in South Eden Park Road. When the Langley Court site was closed due to the takeover by Glaxo Smith Kline, the Club moved its base to the Lloyds Bank ground, then to Old Wilsonians before settling here at Foxgrove.

The Club is open to all members over the age of 35 (veterans) or for those of more advanced years, over 45 (super vets), there is no upper limit on age, as some of our players are in their sixties.
